Matt Adams led off the last of the 11th with a homer off Matt Wisler as the host Washington Nationals came back from a 6-0 deficit to beat the San Diego Padres 7-6 on Sunday, avoiding a three-game sweep.

Juan Soto (age 20), Victor Robles (20) and Carter Kieboom (21) all hit homers for the Nationals. Washington became the first team to have three players under the age of 22 hit a homer in the same game, according to Elias Sports.

Fernando Tatis Jr., who turned 20 in January, had a career-high three hits for the Padres but left the game in the last of the 10th with an injury.

Kieboom, in his third MLB game, hit a solo homer to tie it at 6 in the last of the fifth. Robles had led off the fourth with a homer to make it 6-5.

Kieboom hit a homer in his third at-bat Friday in his first game in the majors. Soto had 22 homers as a rookie last year.

Greg Garcia hit a solo homer in the first as the second batter of the game to give the Padres a 1-0 lead.

Eric Hosmer (three hits) led off the second with a double and scored when Hunter Renfroe, who had two homers in the series, had a bloop double to left for a 2-0 lead.

Manny Machado had an RBI single in the third, and two batters later, Hosmer crushed a three-run shot to left off starter Jeremy Hellickson, giving the Padres a 6-0 lead.

The Nationals scored four of their own in the third to pull within 6-4.

Robles had an infield single, Brian Dozier singled and then Soto hit a three-run homer -- his sixth of the year. Kurt Suzuki added an RBI single later in the inning.

Hellickson went three innings and allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits, with no walks and three strikeouts. Joey Lucchesi, the third lefty to start for the Padres in the series, gave up five runs (four earned) in four innings. He allowed nine hits while walking one and striking out five.

Erick Fedde took over in the fourth for Washington and tossed four scoreless innings.

The winning pitcher was Justin Miller (1-0), who pitched a scoreless 11th inning, while Wisler (1-1) took the loss.

The Nationals put first baseman Ryan Zimmerman on the injured list before the game with a foot injury. Washington third baseman Anthony Rendon (wrist) did not start for the sixth time in seven games.

The Padres have not swept the Nationals in Washington since 2006.
