Rangers 6, Astros 2: Adrian Beltre and Shin-Soo Choo homered as visiting Texas ended a string of seven straight losses at the hands of Houston.
Rookie Nick Martinez (2-8) halted a 10-start winless drought, striking out a season-high six and allowing two runs over five innings to earn his first victory since May 24. Alex Rios added an RBI double before leaving with an injury and Adam Rosales and Elvis Andrus also drove in runs as the Rangers won for only the 11th time in 47 games.
Jose Altuve collected a pair of hits and scored in his return to the lineup and Jason Castro added an RBI single for the Astros, who were bidding for their first six-game winning streak at home since 2012. Ace Dallas Keuchel (10-8) allowed five runs on six hits and three walks over six innings.
Texas spotted the Astros a 2-0 lead through three innings on Chris Carter's RBI groundout and Castro's run-scoring single before scoring twice in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Rios doubled home a run in the fourth and scored on Rosales RBI single to knot it at 2-2 before Robinson Chirinos doubled to lead off the fifth and eventually scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.
Elvis Andrus added a sacrifice fly later in the fifth to make it 4-2 and Beltre and Choo belted leadoff homers in the sixth and seventh, respectively, for a four-run edge.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Rios, who missed the previous two games with an ailing right ankle, left the game after aggravating the injury while sliding home in the fourth. He'll be re-evaluated Monday in Arlington. ... Altuve, back in the lineup after sitting out Saturday due to neck discomfort, registered his major league-leading 49th multiple-hit game to give him 160 hits, also tops in baseball. ... The Astros host Minnesota in a three-game set starting Monday while Texas heads home to start a four-game series versus Tampa Bay.
