Reds 5, Marlins 3 (10): Brandon Phillips broke the tie with a sacrifice fly and Jay Bruce added a two-run double as visiting Cincinnati scored three times in the 10th to complete a three-game sweep.
Phillips also belted a solo homer and Bruce finished with two hits and three RBIs for the Reds, who won their season-high sixth straight game. Aroldis Chapman (3-1), who blew his first save in nine attempts, got the win and J.J. Hoover gave up a run in the 10th before earning his third save.
Adeiny Hechavarria had three hits, including a triple with one out in the ninth off Reds starter Mat Latos, who allowed two runs and four hits in 8 1/3 innings. One out later, rookie Marcell Ozuna drilled a triple to the center-field wall off Chapman to score Hechavarria and tie the game at 2-2.
Juan Pierre lined his first homer since June 23, 2012, a blast just inside the right-field foul pole to give Miami a 1-0 lead in the first. The Reds tied it 1-1 in the fourth when Joey Votto doubled and Bruce singled him home with two outs.
Phillips lined a low fastball from Miami starter Jose Fernandez over the left-field fence in the sixth with two outs to give Cincinnati a 2-1 lead. Fernandez allowed two runs on five hits and struck out five in seven frames, throwing a career-high 99 pitches, and Steve Cishek (1-4) took the loss while yielding three runs in 1 2/3 innings.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Latos has not lost in his last 16 starts dating back to last season, going 8-0. … Bruce extended his hitting streak to seven games and the right-fielder has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 contests. … Miami, which has lost five straight, hosts Arizona to start a three-game series and Cincinnati continues its road trip at Philadelphia on Friday.
