Red Sox 4, Blue Jays 2 (11): Shane Victorino's two-out, two-run single in the 11th inning lifted Boston past host Toronto.

After Toronto tied the game in the eighth inning on J.P. Arencibia's solo home run, Victorino emerged as the hero with a sharp single up the middle off Aaron Loup (4-5). Koji Uehara (3-0) recorded the final four outs to secure the win as Boston extended its lead atop the American League East to four games over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Arencibia drove in two runs while Brett Lawrie had a pair of hits for the Blue Jays, who have dropped three straight and five of six.

After Lawrie hit a double in the fifth inning - the second hit off Dempster to that point - Arencibia opened the scoring by lining a single to left-center to end an 0-for-23 slump. Toronto nearly doubled the lead the following inning, but Jose Reyes was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second base on Jose Bautista's single to right.

Boston finally hit the scoresheet in the seventh, as Will Middlebrooks stroked a one-out double off the right-field wall and scored on Jacoby Ellsbury's single up the middle. Ellsbury promptly stole second - his league-best 43rd steal of the season - and Dustin Pedroia drove him home with a single to right.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Boston starter Ryan Dempster threw seven strong innings, limiting Toronto to one run on four hits. Blue Jays counterpart Todd Redmond was even stingier, allowing just three hits over 5 1/3 shutout innings. ... Dempster hasn't lost in 10 career starts in his native Canada, posting a 1-0 mark in two games at the Rogers Centre and going 5-0 in eight appearances at Montreal's Olympic Stadium. ... Toronto has hit five of the eight home runs Red Sox RHP Junichi Tazawa has surrendered in 2013.
