Daniel Hudson pitched eight strong innings and added an RBI as the Arizona Diamondbacks posted a 3-2 home victory over the Minnesota Twins on Sunday to complete a sweep of their three-game inter-league series.
Juan Miranda homered and Willie Bloomquist had two hits and scored a run for the Diamondbacks, who extended their winning streak to six games.
Hudson (5-5) allowed two runs and eight hits with six strikeouts in his longest outing of the season. J.J. Putz worked a perfect ninth for his 12th save in as many opportunities.
After Minnesota battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in the top of the seventh, Arizona immediately regained the lead in the bottom half. Bloomquist led off against Alex Burnett (0-3) with a double and went to third on center fielder Ben Revere's error before scoring on Ryan Roberts' sacrifice fly.
Miranda opened the scoring in the fourth with a solo homer and Hudson helped his own cause later in the frame with an RBI single. Twins starter Francisco Liriano got his team on the board in the fifth with a groundout and Delmon Young led off the seventh with his first blast of the year to knot the contest.
Young had two hits and scored both runs for Minnesota, which has lost 12 of its last 15 games. Liriano allowed two runs and six hits in six innings.
