Rookie quarterback Andy Dalton orchestrated his second straight game-winning drive to push the Cincinnati Bengals to a 30-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field Sunday.
Cincinnati (3-2) picked up its second straight win and snapped a seven-game losing skid in Jacksonville. The Jaguars (1-4) have lost four in a row since winning the season opener.
Bernard Scott’s 2-yard touchdown run with just under two minutes capped a seven-play, 23-yard drive. A 10-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown from Geno Atkins as time expired clinched the victory for Cincinnati.
Dalton finished with 179 yards passing and two touchdowns. He connected with fellow rookie receiver A.J. Green on a 37-yard scoring strike in the first quarter.
A last-minute push from Jacksonville was snuffed out by a fumble on a mistimed snap count from rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Cincinnati's Nate Clements recovered the ball to seal the win.
Gabbert finished with 201 yards passing, including a 74-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Jason Hill to give the Jaguars a 20-16 lead with eight minutes remaining. That score was the Jaguars’ first second-half touchdown since Week 16 of last season.
Jacksonville leaned heavily on running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who carried the ball 19 times for 85 yards. He scored on the very first possession of the game.
