Adrian Peterson rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns and Tarvaris Jackson and came in for an injured Brett Favre and threw for two scores as the Minnesota Vikings thrashed the Buffalo Bills, 38-14, on Sunday.
Sidney Rice had his best game since returning from a hip injury with five catches for 105 yards and a pair of touchdowns for the Vikings (5-7).
Favre suffered a shoulder injury on his first pass attempt of the game.
Jackson got off to a rough start when his second series ended with an interception being returned for a touchdown, but that was about all the good news for the Bills (2-10) in the first half.
Jackson found Rice for a 31-yard score on the ensuing possession to tie the game at 7-7 and Minnesota took over from there.
Peterson scored twice in the second quarter, capitalizing on a fumbled kickoff by Buffalo to take the lead and adding another score four minutes later.
Jackson found Rice for a 6-yard score three minutes after that and Ryan Longwell added a field goal to make it 31-7 at the break. The Bills managed 41 total yards in the first half.
Peterson broke free for a 43-yard touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter to end any doubt.
