Austin Hollins scored a career-high 18 points and made a pair of crucial free throws with 15 seconds left as Minnesota held on for its first Big Ten win of the season Thursday, a stunning 77-74 triumph at No. 8 Indiana.

The Golden Gophers (13-5, 1-4 Big Ten) shot 50 percent in the first half and made six of their first 11 3-point attempts while stretching their lead to as many as 11 points, 51-40, with just under 12 minutes remaining.

The Hoosiers (15-2, 3-2) made a late charge, closing to within one on a three-point play by Cody Zeller with 17.3 left, but their comeback bid came up just short when Christian Watford's shot at a game-tying 3-pointer missed the mark in the closing moments.

Minnesota held on by turning 16 offensive rebounds into 22 points. Consecutive second-effort buckets by Rodney Williams and Oto Osenieks in the final 3:22 helped keep the Hoosiers (15-2, 3-2) at bay.

Williams added 14 points for Minnesota. Cody Zeller finished with 23 points and eight rebounds to lead Indiana, which made 20-of-23 free throws but went just 4-for-18 from 3-point range.
