Alec Burks scored 25 points, and Colorado continued its hot start at home Wednesday with a 90-83 overtime victory over intrastate rival Colorado State.
After missing 4-of-8 free throws in the final two minutes of regulation, Colorado (5-3) was 8 for 8 in the extra period, and outscored the Rams 14-7.
Colorado senior guard Levi Knutson made four free throws in overtime and finished with 14 points, while Marcus Relphorde and Cory Higgins added 18 and 15 points, respectively.
Travis Franklin led Colorado State (4-2) with 19 points, while Andy Ogide had 17 points and seven rebounds. Wes Eikmeier added 13 points for the Rams, who led 33-30 at halftime.
Colorado, which has won eight straight at home, took a 66-62 lead with 5:10 left in regulation on Knutson’s 3-pointer, and led by five with 1:02 remaining.
Jesse Carr’s layup as time expired in regulation tied the game for Colorado State. Carr finished with 10 points, five assists and five rebounds.
Colorado was 35 for 41 (85.4 percent) from the free-throw line, while Colorado State was 14 for 19 (73.7 percent).
