ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Second baseman Howie Kendrick and left fielder Trayce Thompson made sure Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Scott Kazmir earned his 100th career win in his return to Tropicana Field.

Kendrick had four hits and Trayce Thompson had a home run and four RBIs to lead the Dodgers to a 10-5 win against the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday.

Joc Pederson and Yasiel Puig also hit home runs as the Dodgers (14-13) had a successful start to a five-game Interleague swing.

Tampa Bay (11-14) fell to 3-4 on their current eight-game homestand.

Kendrick, who came into Tuesday's game hitting .143, scored two runs and had two RBIs.

"He's been working a lot with the hitting guys," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "Balls that he got in the strike zone he was staying above the baseball and a lot of those times in the last couple of weeks he was underneath. When he's good that's how he hits."

Kendrick and Thompson had key hits in the Dodgers' four-run outburst in the top of the fifth that gave Los Angeles a 7-3 lead and chased Rays started Matt Moore.

Moore started the inning by walking designated hitter Enrique Hernandez and gave up an infield hit to Yasiel Puig. After retiring a batter Moore walked Justin Turner to load the bases.

Kendrick followed with a double down the line in left that scored Hernandez and Puig to give the Dodgers a 5-3 lead. Thompson added a single to score Turner and Kendrick.

"It felt good to help the team out," Kendrick said. "Last homestand wasn't the greatest, but it felt good to go out and do something like we did tonight. We were able to put up some runs and get everything rolling."

The runs would be more than enough for Kazmir, who was part of the Rays' 2008 American League Championship team. He had a season-high nine strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings. He gave up four runs on seven hits and threw 111 pitches (70 strikes).

"They picked me up, especially after that two-run homer than tied it up," Kazmir said. "To be able to get a couple right after that and get a cushion, that's huge."

Moore struck out the first two batters he faced but ran into trouble after that. He gave up seven runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings and threw 96 pitches (62 strikes).

The Rays took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Evan Longoria's RBI double that scored Brandon Guyer.

But the Dodgers answered with three in the top of the second. Thompson hit a two-run homer to left that scored Kendrick. Two batters later Pederson added a solo shot to dead center estimated at 440 feet.

"I've got to be better in those situations," Moore said. Seven runs. There's very few teams, very few nights, that you can say 'I gave myself a chance to win tonight.' I wasn't in that category and I am better than that."

Rays catcher Curt Casali hit a two-run homer to left in the bottom of the fourth on a 3-1 pitch to tie the game at 3-3. Second baseman Steve Pearce added a home run off Kazmir in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 7-4.

"(Casali's home run) was a big hit, really big," Rays manager Kevin Cash said. "We needed some kind of boost, he gave to us for sure. We just went out the next inning and gave it (back) to them. That can be very deflating."

Puig home run in the top of the ninth off Rays reliever Ryan Webb gave the Dodgers a 10-4 lead.

The Rays scored one of the ninth off Dodgers reliever J.P. Howell when he walked Longoria with the bases loaded. But closer Kenley Janzen retired Rays pinch hitter Corey Dickerson to record his 10th save of the season.

"We needed this night," Roberts said. "Hopefully it's contagious and we can carry it over to (Wednesday)."

NOTES: Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said he will work with several players to fill the designated hitter spot during the team's five-game stretch through American League ballparks. Enrique Hernandez started at the position Tuesday and was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. ... The Rays were 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position Tuesday and are 5-for-44 in those situations during the homestand. ... Dodgers OF Carl Crawford did not start Tuesday and will not start Wednesday against the Rays left-handed starters but Roberts brought him is as a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth and he reached an error and scored a run. "For some reason they didn't give me a hit, they were a little rough on me here," Crawford joked. "But it felt good to be back in the place that I spent the majority of career."
