Blue Jays 7, Rays 4: Adam Lind went 4-for-5 while Dioner Navarro and Edwin Encarnacion each belted two-run homers as visiting Toronto defeated Tampa Bay for the second straight night.

Danny Valencia recorded two RBIs, Jose Bautista and Lind both scored twice and the Blue Jays won a road series against Tampa Bay for the first time since 2007. Marcus Stroman (9-5) allowed two runs and seven hits over six innings as Toronto pulled within 4 ½ games of Detroit for the American League’s second wild-card spot.

Evan Longoria went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs while Ben Zobrist collected a pair of hits as the Rays lost for the 12th time in their last 18 games. Tampa Bay starter Chris Archer (8-8), who gave up eight runs in his previous start, yielded six Wednesday on 10 hits over six innings.

Lind singled with one out in the second inning and trotted home when Navarro lined a 2-2 pitch from Archer into the right-field seats. After a 27-minute power delay in the bottom of the third, Lind doubled and moved up on a Navarro single before scoring on Valencia’s sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Melky Cabrera added a sacrifice fly in the fifth and Encarnacion hit his two-run homer just over the railing in left field later in the inning for a 6-0 lead. Longoria singled in one of two runs in the sixth and his two-run blast in the eighth trimmed the deficit to 7-4 before Aaron Sanchez notched his second save in the ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Toronto was 0-20-2 in the last 22 road series against Tampa Bay since April 6-8, including one set which was played at Orlando in 2008. … Longoria has registered 21 RBIs in his last 20 games and leads the team with 81. … Navarro boasts four homers and 12 RBIs in 15 games this season against the Rays – his former team.
