Josh Jacobs rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries and the Las Vegas Raiders were impressive in their first game under interim coach Antonio Pierce, routing the visiting New York Giants 30-6 on Sunday.

The Raiders fired Josh McDaniels on Tuesday after a string of woeful offensive performances, and Las Vegas (4-5) had set a new season high for points scored before the first half ended. The Raiders' previous high for a game was 21.

Rookie Aidan O'Connell completed 16 of 25 passes for 209 yards in his second career start. Upon Pierce's promotion, O'Connell was named the starting quarterback over veteran Jimmy Garoppolo.

New York's Daniel Jones injured his right knee on consecutive plays and departed after the first play of the second quarter with 25 yards on 4-of-9 passing. Jones missed the previous three games with a neck injury for the Giants (2-7).

Tommy DeVito was the only other quarterback available and he was intercepted twice and sacked six times while completing 15 of 20 passes for 175 yards and his first career touchdown pass. Wan'Dale Robinson caught the scoring pass and Saquon Barkley accounted for 113 scrimmage yards (90 rushing, 23 receiving).

The Giants have lost six of their past seven games and are averaging 10 points during the stretch.

Pierce was a former player with the Giants and won a Super Bowl ring when New York famously upset the previously undefeated New England Patriots in the Super Bowl following the 2007 season.

Maxx Crosby had three of Las Vegas' eight sacks and Daniel Carlson kicked three field goals.

The Raiders struck first when Jakobi Meyers took a jet sweep to the left and raced 17 yards for a score with 9:45 left in the first quarter.

Jacobs scored in the second quarter on runs of 2 and 1 yards to make it 21-0 with 1:57 left in the half. Carlson booted a 24-yard field goal with 4 seconds left to make it a 24-point halftime lead.

Carlson kicked a 46-yard field goal with 8:23 left in the third quarter. He later hit from 41 in the fourth quarter.

The Giants scored on DeVito's 9-yard touchdown pass to Robinson with 14:11 left in the game.

Jones was first injured on the final play of the first quarter. He attempted to elude Crosby when the leg gave out.

When the second quarter began, Jones dropped back to pass and his right leg gave out again. He fell to the turf and immediately grabbed his knee.
