Florida State was back from a one-week break Sunday and handled Southeast Louisiana, 75-58, in its return home to the Donald L. Tucker Center.
Rarely used Seminoles guard Benji Bell, who came in averaging just 2.8 points a game, came off the bench and scored a career-high 18 points in the victory to lead Florida State (6-2) to its second straight win.
Southeast Louisiana fell to 2-8 desipte a big game from guard Joshua Filmore, who led all scorers with 19 points.
The Seminoles took a 29-22 lead into halftime and struggled to get either of their star freshmen -- guards Malik Beasley and Dwayne Bacon -- going early.
Beasley, the seventh-leading scorer in the nation, finished with 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds in the win. Beasley was the only other Seminole to reach double figures, but guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes had a strong game with seven points and a team-high 11 assists.
Forward Montay Brandon, Rathan-Mayes and Beasley each added two blocks.
Bacon, the Seminoles' second-leading scorer at 17.7 points per game, was held to just two points after getting into early foul trouble and never really factored in the game.
The Tigers didn't have anyone besides Filmore reach double-digits, but guard Zay Jackson chipped in nine points and five boards in the loss.
Sunday marked Florida State's first home game since Nov. 17.
Florida State is at home against Mississippi State on Wednesday.
Florida State and Southeast Louisiana met for just the second time ever Sunday. The Seminoles defeated the Lions, 88-62, on December 10, 2006 at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee.
Southeast Louisiana stays in Tallahassee to face Florida A&M on Tuesday.
