Maryland 62, Denver 52: Dez Wells finished with 19 points and shot 7-for-10 as the host Terrapins came from behind to defeat the Pioneers and advance to the NIT quarterfinals.
Maryland (24-12), which will take on the winner of Saturday's game between Alabama and Stanford, also received 13 points from Seth Allen. Nick Faust added 12 points and six rebounds.
Chris Udofia had 24 points and six rebounds for Denver (22-10). Brett Olson tallied 10 points, while Chase Hallam had eight points and six boards.Both teams had nine turnovers in the first half, and the Pioneers took a 30-27 lead into the locker room. Udofia picked up his fourth foul with 8:40 and had to sit while a pair of Wells free throws pulled Maryland to within four after it trailed by as many as nine.
An Allen layup with 4:09 left gave the Terrapins their first lead of the second half. Freshman forward Jake Layman scored his first points with 2:06 left, banking in a 3-pointer to highlight a 19-4 Maryland run and push its lead to six.
