Virginia Tech 96, UNC Greensboro 87: Jarell Eddie had a near perfect shooting night, leading the Hokies with a career-high 28 points over the host Spartans.

Eddie was 7-for-9 overall from the field and 5-for-5 from beyond the arc for Virginia Tech, which knocked down 14-of-22 attempts from long range. Eddie also hit nine of his 10 free-throw attempts as the Hokies moved to 4-0 to start a season for the first time since 2004-05.

ACC leading scorer Erick Green added 26 points for Virginia Tech, including a career-best 16-for-16 from the free throw line. Green connected on only four of his 15 field-goal tries, but helped the Hokies ward off a late challenge from UNC Greensboro, knocking down 12 of his foul shots in the final 4:18 to secure the win.

Trailing 30-16 with 9:15 to play in the first half, the Spartans (1-3) went on a 17-2 run to take a 33-32 lead before the team's hot hand ran cold. Greensboro missed five straight field-goal attempts as Virginia Tech re-established its lead, capped by a 3-pointer from Eddie at the buzzer to send the game to halftime.

After the break, the Spartans closed a 14-point second-half gap and pulled ahead on six straight points from Trevis Simpson for a 77-73 lead with 6:09 to play before a 10-0 run put the game away for good for the Hokies. Simpson finished with 25 points to lead Greensboro.
