Terrence Jones scored 16 points, his sixth straight game in double figures, as No. 2 Kentucky held off determined Alabama 77-71 on Saturday in Lexington.
The Wildcats (19-1, 5-0 SEC) got six players in double figures and won their 11th straight game. It was their nation's-best 47th consecutive victory at home. Doron Lamb scored 14 and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 15. But it was senior Darius Miller who iced the game with two free throws with 14.1 seconds remaining; he scored 11 points.
Alabama (13-6, 2-3 SEC) lost its third straight game. The Crimson Tide got 22 points and 10 rebounds from JaMychal Green and 17 points from Trevor Releford. But Tony Mitchell, who was scoreless in the last game against Vanderbilt, faltered again with only six points on 2-for-12 shooting.
Kentucky led 37-32 at the half, but could never really shake Alabama. The Tide made several runs at the Wildcats and drew within two points on three occasions, the last 73-71 with 24.5 seconds remaining.
The win keeps Kentucky tied with Vanderbilt for first place in the Southeastern Conference
