Jazz 102, Cavaliers 100: Gordon Hayward buried a step-back jumper from the right wing at the buzzer and finished with 21 points as Utah held off visiting Cleveland.

LeBron James’ heroics in the final seconds tied it but Hayward ran off a pair of screens on the final inbounds play and had enough time for two dribbles and a step to clear some space before giving the Jazz their second win. Derrick Favors added 21 points and 10 points and Enes Kanter scored 18 points for Utah.

James finished with 31 points and Kyrie Irving scored 34 for the Cavaliers, who have dropped back-to-back games. Kevin Love struggled to 14 points on 2-of-10 shooting and Cleveland recorded just six assists on 30 field goals.

Irving’s driving layup with 5:24 to play gave the Cavaliers their first lead of the night but the Jazz recovered to go back up 96-90. James buried a 3-pointer from the left corner with 11 seconds left to cut the deficit to one and, after two free throws from Utah, caught Favors up in the air at the top of the key and knocked down all three free throws with 3.4 seconds left to tie it before Hayward’s jumper.

The Jazz hit their first five shots in the second quarter to open up a 43-29 lead and were still up 14 with 2:43 left in the half before the Cavaliers cut it to 59-48 at the break. Trey Burke’s 3-pointer stretched it to 66-50 before James buried a pair of 3-pointers in a 21-6 burst to chop the deficit to one, and Utah carried a 76-75 lead into the fourth.
