Knicks 90, Pacers 80: Carmelo Anthony scored 25 points to help host New York defeat Indiana to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Chris Copeland tallied 20 points and J.R. Smith added 15 as the Knicks won for the 15th time in 16 games. New York is the second seed in the East for the first time since 1994.
Lance Stephenson scored 22 points and David West added 17 for the Pacers, who clinched the No. 3 seed when Brooklyn lost to Toronto.
The Knicks led by double digits most of the final quarter. A 3-pointer by Smith boosted New York’s lead to 84-69 with 5:38 remaining and the Pacers were unable to make a late charge.
New York led 41-21 after a three-pointer by Steve Novak with 7:03 left in the first half. Indiana rallied to pull within seven at halftime and trailed 69-60 entering the final 12 minutes.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Anthony left the contest with a left shoulder contusion but the injury isn’t considered serious. His streak of 30-point games ended at seven. … Indiana C Roy Hibbert had just four points in 28 minutes and drew a flagrant 1 foul. … New York has won 30 home games for the first time since the 2000-01 campaign.
