Diamondbacks 9, Brewers 2: Jason Kubel and Paul Goldschmidt delivered two-run homers and Patrick Corbin pitched six solid innings as visiting Arizona won its third straight game.
Aaron Hill homered and had an RBI double while red-hot Gerardo Parra and Eric Hinske added run-scoring singles for the Diamondbacks, who had 16 hits. Corbin (1-0), who won the No. 5 spot in the rotation in spring training, allowed two runs and eight hits.
Jean Segura had three hits, including an RBI double, for the Brewers, who were without Ryan Braun for the second straight game because of neck spasms. Mike Fiers (0-1) allowed six runs and nine hits in five innings as Milwaukee fell to 1-4 on its season-opening six-game homestand.
Arizona took the lead for good in the fourth inning when Kubel turned on a hanging curveball and crushed it off the second-deck facade in right field to make it 3-2. Parra, who is 11-for-24, added a two-out single four batters later to give the Diamondbacks a 4-2 lead.
After Miguel Montero walked with one out in the fifth inning, Goldschmidt deposited Fiers' 1-1 pitch deep into the left-center field seats. Arizona scored twice in
the seventh, capped by Hinske's two-out RBI single, and Hill's solo shot finished the scoring in the eighth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez, who left Friday's game with a left knee sprain, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday. Milwaukee
called up Josh Prince from Triple-A Nashville to take his roster spot. Alex Gonzalez made his first career start at third base, while Yuniesky Betancourt started at
first base for the first time. ... Khris Davis, who took Braun's spot in left field, recorded his first major-league hit - a double in the second inning - and scored on
Segura's double. ... Kubel robbed Gonzalez of extra bases with a lunging catch in right field, but the sacrifice fly tied it at 1 in the first inning.
