Leon Draisaitl scored the game-winning goal as part of his four-point game and lead the host Edmonton Oilers to a 5-3 victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night, snapping their seven-game skid.
Evan Bouchard scored twice, Brendan Perlini also scored and Connor McDavid collected two assists for the Oilers. Goaltender Mikko Koskinen made 44 saves, including all 17 he faced in the third period, during which he made several clutch saves while the game was tied.
Despite the Flames holding all of the momentum in the final frame, Draisaitl netted the go-ahead goal with 5:31 left in regulation. He zipped around the defender and waited for the Calgary goalie to go down before lifting a forehand into the net.
Draisaitl buried an empty net goal just before the buzzer -- his 28th goal of the season -- to round out the scoring.
Noah Hanifin collected one goal and two assists, Matthew Tkachuk scored once in a two-point night and Milan Lucic also tallied for the Flames, who have one win in their last six games. Goalie Jacob Markstrom stopped 26 shots.
Tkachuk ran his goal-scoring streak to four games when he opened the scoring at 8:29.
Elias Lindholm's shot was stopped, but Tkachuk pounced on the rebound for his 18th of the season. It's the ninth straight game, and 15th time in their last 16 outings, that the Oilers have surrendered the first goal.
Lucic's power-play goal doubled the lead with 41 seconds remaining in the opening frame. While setting the screen, the big forward deflected Hanifin's point shot for his ninth of the season.
However, Bouchard scored a pair of second-period power-play goals to bring the Oilers back even.
First, he unloaded a long slap shot from the point that hit the mark through the maze of skaters in front of the net at 5:35 of the frame. Then he converted a long wrist shot from the high slot just before the midway point for his eighth of the campaign.
Perlini's fourth goal of the season put the hosts ahead with 102 seconds left in the period when his wrist shot from beyond the right circle eluded Markstrom, but Hanifin evened the game 58 seconds later with his fourth goal of the season, another long wrist shot that found the net.
