Andrew Mangiapane netted his first career multi-point game with a goal and an assist, and the host Calgary Flames scored five unanswered goals en route to their second straight win, a 5-1 decision over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night.
Four other Calgary players collected two points, and goalie Mike Smith made 18 saves for the Flames, who have won five of six and hold the top spot in the Western Conference.
Facing the last-place Senators, it's no surprise the Flames (46-21-7, 99 points) cruised to an easy win, even after falling behind early.
With his team trailing 1-0 nearing the midway point of the first period, Calgary captain Mark Giordano sent his team off and running with his club's league-high 18th short-handed tally.
Giordano stole the puck from Bobby Ryan to give himself a breakaway. He was denied on the first chance but converted the rebound for his 15th goal of the season. Giordano is now riding a six-game point streak in which he's netted one goal and six assists.
Giordano, a Norris Trophy front-runner as the league's top defenseman, has scored four short-handed goals, only the ninth defenseman in NHL history to reach that level.
Garnet Hathaway made it a 2-1 Flames edge just over two minutes later with a tap-in tally set up by his linemates, Derek Ryan and Mangiapane.
Mangiapane added to the lead exactly nine minutes into the second period, wiring home a shot from the high slot after Hathaway created a turnover in the Ottawa zone and Ryan fed him the puck.
In the third period, Mikael Backlund potted his 20th goal of the season, and Matthew Tkachuk collected his 34th to round out the scoring.
Dylan DeMelo gave the visitors hope they could run with the Flames when he opened the scoring with his fourth, 4:30 into the clash, but the hosts ran roughshod over the Senators the rest of the way.
Craig Anderson made 31 saves for the Senators (25-43-6, 56 points), who have dropped two straight games and finish their road swing Saturday in Edmonton.
