Ducks 3, Kings 2: Corey Perry and Teemu Selanne scored power-play goals as visiting Anaheim captured Game 3 of its Western Conference second-round series.
Defenseman Ben Lovejoy added a much-needed tally late in the third period for the Pacific Division-champion Ducks, who look to even the series with a victory in Game 4 at Los Angeles on Saturday. Frederik Andersen made 22 saves in his first start since Game 6 of Anaheim's first-round matchup with Dallas before suffering a right leg injury and being replaced midway through the third period by Jonas Hiller, who stopped seven shots.
Jeff Carter recorded a goal and an assist while Mike Richards tallied late for the Kings, who had their six-game winning streak snapped. Anze Kopitar extended his point streak to 10 games with an assist and Jonathan Quick turned aside 19 shots while allowing more than two goals for the first time since Game 4 of Los Angeles' first-round series against San Jose.
Anaheim took an early lead following a nifty passing sequence on the first power play of the game. Captain Ryan Getzlaf dished the puck from above the right faceoff circle to Patrick Maroon, who fed Perry from the top of the crease for a shot from the slot 4:06 into the contest.
The Kings pulled even on a similar play five minutes into the second, as Kopitar made a pass from the right circle to Marian Gaborik, who in turn moved the puck from the right side of the net to Carter for a shot that beat Andersen from the inner edge of the right circle. Selanne put the Ducks in front with 4:50 left in the session, tapping in a cross-slot feed from the left circle by Nick Bonino with two seconds remaining on a man advantage.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Lovejoy sealed the victory with 2:55 left in the third, beating Quick high to the glove side from the right circle. ... Getzlaf has registered an assist on four of Anaheim's six goals in the series. ... Kopitar is two games away from matching the longest point streak in one postseason in Kings history set in 1993 by Wayne Gretzky. The Slovenian raised his league-leading totals to 11 assists and 15 points. ... Maroon extended his point streak to six games with his assist on Perry's goal.
