Russell Wilson threw four touchdown passes as the Seattle Seahawks' offense got untracked in a 40-3 victory against the visiting New York Jets on Sunday.
The Seahawks (9-4) remained tied with the Los Angeles Rams atop the NFC West. The Jets (0-13) are three losses away from joining the 2008 Detroit Lions and the 2017 Cleveland Browns as the only 0-16 teams in NFL history.
After scoring 27 or more points in each of their first eight games of the season, the Seahawks had reached that mark just once since entering Sunday's game.
Wilson was 21-of-27 passing for 206 yards before being replaced late in the third quarter by Geno Smith, who played his first four seasons with the Jets after being drafted by them in the second round in 2013. Smith was 4-of-5 passing for 33 yards.
Wilson threw touchdown passes of 19 yards to Freddie Swain, 5 yards to DK Metcalf, 10 yards to Will Dissly and 3 yards to David Moore.
Wilson also threw an interception in the end zone in the first half, or the Seahawks would've been up more than 23-3 at the intermission.
Chris Carson rushed 12 times for 76 yards and a touchdown for Seattle, and Carlos Hyde added 66 yards on 15 carries. Metcalf made six catches for 61 yards and a score. Jason Myers kicked field goals of 41 and 29 yards.
The Jets' Sam Darnold was 14-of-26 passing for 132 yards. Frank Gore had 23 yards on eight rushes and lost a fumble as the Jets managed just 185 yards of total offense.
The Jets reached field-goal range four times in the first half, but they converted only on the game's opening possession. Sergio Castillo's 45-yarder gave New York a 3-0 lead, but he missed attempts from 37, 41 and 43 yards in the second quarter.
The Jets set a franchise record by scoring on their opening drive for the seventh consecutive game.
