Matthew Stafford threw four touchdown passes, including his second of the game to Calvin Johnson with 39 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, and Ndamukong Suh blocked Sebastian Janikowski's field-goal attempt as time expired as the Detroit Lions rallied for a 28-27 road triumph over the struggling Oakland Raiders on Sunday.

Stafford completed 29 of 52 passes for 391 yards without an interception for the Lions (9-5), who halted a two-game road losing streak and maintained their hold on a wild-card berth in the NFC.

After teaming up with Titus Young for a 3-yard TD with 4:59 left to get Detroit within 27-21, Stafford completed a seven-play, 98-yard drive with a 6-yard scoring toss to Johnson, who had nine catches for 214 yards. Jason Hanson’s extra point gave the Lions their first lead of the day.

Returning from a two-game suspension, Suh denied Janikowski's attempt at an NFL-record 65-yard field goal as Oakland (7-7) lost its third straight and squandered the chance to pull even with the Denver Broncos (8-6) atop the AFC West.

The teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter as Oakland's Louis Murphy scored on a 12-yard reverse less than three minutes before Stafford completed a 51-yard pass to Johnson to forge a tie. It was the league-leading 13th TD reception for Johnson and marked the 16th straight game in which Stafford has thrown for a score.

Palmer connected with Darrius Heyward-Bey on a 43-yard scoring strike with nine minutes left in the second, giving the Raiders a 14-7 lead. Stafford again knotted the contest with a 39-yard TD pass to Nate Burleson with 1:14 remaining, but Janikowski booted a 46-yard field goal as the half ended to put Oakland back in front.

Janikowski converted a 51-yard attempt with 8:12 to play in the fourth and Aaron Curry returned a Stafford fumble 6 yards for a score after the quarterback was stripped by Tommy Kelly, giving the Raiders a 27-14 advantage with 7:47 left.

Palmer was 32 of 40 for 367 yards and Heyward-Bey hauled in eight passes for 155 yards for Oakland, which has allowed 108 points during its skid.
