Billy Cundiff's 38-yard field goal after linebacker Ray Lewis forced and recovered a fumble gave the host Baltimore Ravens a 37-34 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Lewis ripped the ball loose from tight end Shawn Nelson and a 15-yard personal foul set up the Ravens (5-2) at the Bills’ 30-yard line. Three plays later, Cundiff hit third field goal of the game to keep Buffalo (0-6) winless.
The Ravens scored 24 unanswered points in the middle two periods to take a 34-24 lead, but Baltimore couldn't contain Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick completed 29 of 43 passes for 373 yards with four touchdown passes - three to Lee Evans - and two interceptions by Baltimore safety Ed Reed. Fitzpatrick engineered two scoring drives on the Bills' final two possessions to force the Ravens into a second straight overtime game.
Baltimore failed to hold a 10-point, fourth-quarter lead against New England and lost 23-20 last week.
Cundiff’s 48-yard field goal 56 second before the half started the 24-point spurt.
Bills rookie C.J. Spiller fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco found tight end Todd Heap for a 14-yard touchdown that cut the deficit to 24-20 with 23 ticks left in the half.
Flacco also connected on a 26-yard scoring pass to Heap earlier in the period.
Willis McGahee scored on a 2-yard run late in the third that pushed Baltimore’s lead to 34-24.
Flacco finished 16 of 31 passing for 250 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
