Reds 13, Brewers 7: Jay Bruce homered, doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs as host Cincinnati built a big early lead and beat Milwaukee for the second straight day.
Mat Latos (4-0) benefited from the offensive eruption to remain undefeated and helped himself with a pair of RBI singles as the Reds won for the sixth time in eight games. Latos labored through six innings, giving up seven runs - six earned - and nine hits.
Shin-Soo Choo, Zack Cozart, Joey Votto and Devin Mesoraco all had two RBIs apiece as Cincinnati scored five runs in the second and seven in the third to take a 12-4 lead en route to handing the Brewers their eighth loss in nine games.
Jean Segura (four hits) and Norichika Aoki homered and Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Gomez had two hits and two RBIs apiece for Milwaukee, which will look to avoid a sweep Sunday in the third game of a 10-game road trip.
Brewers starter Hiram Burgos (1-1) was pounded for 12 runs - 10 earned - in his three-inning stint. He was battered for five doubles - two by Bruce - and seven hits in the third inning alone after Milwaukee had scored twice in the top of the inning to pull within 5-4.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Bruce became the first Reds player with two doubles in one inning since Sean Casey did it on Aug. 7, 1998, vs. Milwaukee, and his second-inning homer marked the 22th time he has gone deep against Milwaukee in 228 career at-bats. ... Burgos became the third starter in franchise history (Ricky Bones, 1995; Yovani Gallardo, 2007) to surrender at least 10 earned runs in three innings or fewer. ... Latos produced his second career two-RBI game and his sixth two-hit contest.
