Twins 4, Indians 2: Mike Pelfrey shook free from a slump with six strong innings as visiting Minnesota snapped Cleveland's six-game winning streak.
Pelfrey (3-3), who gave up 19 runs in 17 innings over his previous four starts, yielded only a fourth-inning RBI sacrifice fly to Mark Reynolds while striking out a season-high seven and walking one. Trevor Plouffe put Pelfrey and the Twins ahead to stay with a two-run homer in the second.
Indians starter Corey Kluber (2-1) surrendered three runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked four after going the first 12 innings this season without issuing a free pass.
Kluber walked Chris Parmelee with one out in the second and Plouffe followed with a homer to left, his fourth, to start the scoring. Two more free passes by Kluber loaded the bases for Minnesota in the sixth and Justin Morneau made it 3-1 with an RBI single.
Joe Mauer added an RBI double in the seventh and Glen Perkins overcame a solo homer by Carlos Santana with two outs in the ninth to record his seventh save in as many chances for the Twins, who had lost four of their previous five.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Cleveland averaged 8.8 runs during the winning streak. ... Indians CF Michael Bourn (finger) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Columbus. ... Minnesota continues its 10-game road trip Monday with the first of four at Boston, while Cleveland opens a four-game series at home against Oakland.
