Twins 6, Indians 5 (12): Darin Mastroianni scored from second base on Alexi Casilla's infield hit with two outs in the 12th inning as visiting Minnesota won its fourth straight over Cleveland in bizarre fashion.

Mastroianni singled to right with two outs and stole second. Casilla hit a grounder in the hole which second baseman Jason Kipnis fielded, but first baseman Matt LaPorta thought the ball went through to the outfield. After LaPorta realized his mistake, he caught Kipnis' throw near the bag and threw home, well late to get the speedy Mastroianni.

Joe Mauer went 3-for-4 with two walks and an RBI and Pedro Florimon added a run-scoring single in the 12th for the Twins (61-87), who drew even with Indians for fourth place in the American League Central. Minnesota has won 11 of the last 13 meetings. Tyler Robertson (2-2) earned the victory and Glen Perkins, the fifth Twins' reliever, earned his 12th save.

Carlos Santana hit a solo homer with two outs in the 12th for the Indians, who loaded the bases with none out in the 10th before Santana, Russ Canzler and Lonnie Chisenhall all hit shallow flyouts. Chisenhall homered in the second. Scott Maine (2-2), the Indians' ninth reliever and club-record 10th pitcher, took the loss.

Minnesota took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Mauer's RBI single and Justin Morneau's sacrifice fly. After Cleveland went ahead 4-3 in the sixth with a pair of runs, Josh Willingham drove in Denard Span with a single in the seventh. Span was 3-for-6 with two runs scored.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cleveland CF Michael Brantley robbed Mastroianni of extra bases with a catch up against the wall to lead off the 10th inning. ... Mauer improved to 12-for-23 lifetime against the Indians' David Huff, who allowed three runs and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings in his first start of the season. ... The Indians finished with 11 hits and every starter had at least one. Santana and Kipnis had two.
