Indians 7, White Sox 5: Jason Kipnis recorded four RBIs off a triple and a home run as visiting Cleveland took two of three games against division rival Chicago.
Kipnis broke the game open with a three-run homer to right field in the top of the seventh, helping the Indians build their lead in the American League Central and improve to 9-3 on the road.
Cleveland opened the scoring with a RBI single to center from Casey Kotchman in the second inning. The Tribe would add two more runs in the third on three straight hits.
Johnny Damon led off the inning with double and was driven home by Kipnis’ RBI triple, followed by a RBI single from Asdrubal Cabrera.
Cabrera golfed a solo home run to left to lead off the sixth inning for his fourth home run of the year.
Justin Masterson (1-2) allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out six in 6 1/3 innings of work.
Adam Dunn pulled the White Sox to within two with a two-run homer to deep right field in the bottom of the ninth.
Alejandro De Aza finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs on a single to shallow right in the fifth.
Alex Rios pulled Chicago to within one run with a RBI single in the sixth inning. He finished 2-for-5.
John Danks (2-4) continued his slow start to the season, giving up six earned runs on nine through seven innings.
