Angels 3, Orioles 0: Jered Weaver pitched eight shutout innings to win his fifth straight decision and lower his major league-leading ERA to 1.96 as host Los Angeles recorded its 12th shutout of the season.
Weaver (10-1) improved to 6-0 at home this season with an 0.58 ERA and has allowed one run in four starts (0.33 ERA) since returning from the disabled list June 20. He is 14-2 with a 1.47 ERA in 22 home starts since the start of 2011.
Weaver allowed three hits, walked one and struck out five to improve to 6-3 lifetime against Baltimore, including 2-0 this season. Scott Downs pitched a perfect ninth inning for his eighth save in 10 chances.
Howie Kendrick, Torii Hunter and Kendrys Morales had run-scoring hits for the Angels.
Jason Hammel (8-5), who allowed a season-high eight runs against Los Angeles on June 27, lost his third straight start. He gave up three runs, six hits and walked four in 6 2/3 innings.
Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning when Kendrick drove in Mark Trumbo with a single.
The Angels scored twice in the seventh when Hunter’s two-out double scored Mike Trout, who had reached on a fielder’s choice. After Albert Pujols was walked intentionally, Morales drove in Hunter with a single.
