Matt Carson and Coco Crisp hit homers and Brett Anderson pitched solid baseball into the eighth inning as the Oakland Athletics earned a 6-2 victory over the visiting Seattle Mariners on Monday afternoon.
Anderson (4-6) ended a string of four consecutive decisions with a loss, limiting the Mariners to four hits and one run in 7 2/3 innings. He had four strikeouts.
Crisp hit his seventh homer in the first inning and had an RBI single in the fourth after Carson hit his second homer.
Jack Cust had two hits and an RBI single for Oakland.
Jason Vargas (9-9) allowed five runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Franklin Gutierrez hit his 11th homer in the seventh for Seattle and Jose Lopez had a sacrifice fly.
