The New York Yankees snapped a 4-4 tie with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure a 9-5 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday afternoon.

Eduardo Nunez singled home Austin Kearns to make it 5-4. Derek Jeter followed that up with another single to cash Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira hit a sacrifice fly scoring Nunez to round out the big inning.

The Yankees (76-47) then tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the eighth to put the game out of reach.

The Mariners (49-74) got on the board first with two runs in the first inning off Javier Vazquez, but the Yanks answered back in the bottom of the inning with three runs of their own.

Ichiro Suzuki belted two solo shots and a double in a losing cause, while Robinson Cano had two hits and two RBIs for the Yankees.

Boone Logan (1-0) picked up the win, throwing one scoreless inning out of the pen while Seattle starter Claudio Vargas (9-6) was on the hook for the loss, allowing seven earned runs over 6 1/3 innings.

Mariano Rivera allowed a ninth-inning run but picked up his 25th save of the year.
