Oliver Bjorkstrand broke a third-period tie with his first goal since the opening night of the season, helping the Seattle Kraken overcome Timo Meier's hat trick and defeat the visiting San Jose Sharks 8-5 on Wednesday night.

Seattle set a franchise single-game record for goals scored.

Jaden Schwartz scored twice, Andre Burakovsky and Matty Beniers each had a goal and two assists and Vince Dunn had one of each for the Kraken, who won their third consecutive game and went 4-1-1 on a six-game homestand.

Seattle's Ryan Donato and Jamie Oleksiak also tallied and Jared McCann had two assists. Goaltender Martin Jones made 21 saves.

Logan Couture had a goal and an assist, Alexander Barabanov also tallied and Tomas Hertl had two assists for the Sharks, who lost for the third time in four games. Kaapo Kahkonen stopped 19 of 26 shots.

With the score tied at 4-4, Seattle's Brandon Tanev forced a turnover at the blue line and Yanni Gourde corralled the puck along the right-wing boards. Gourde fed a wide-open Bjorkstrand in front of the net, and Bjorkstrand spun and lifted a backhander over a sprawling Kahkonen at 2:48 of the third period.

Schwartz scored 59 seconds later to give Seattle a 6-4 lead.

Meier scored his third of the game and 12th of the season at 8:58 to pull the Sharks within a goal, before Beniers tallied on a three-on-two rush at 15:16 to make it 7-5. Schwartz added an empty-netter with 35 seconds remaining.

Trailing 2-1, the Kraken took the lead with three goals in a span of 4:19 in the second. Dunn tied it at 5:52, Donato tallied at 7:02 and Oleksiak at 10:11 with an extra attacker on the ice awaiting a delayed penalty.

Meier made it 4-3 at 13:39 on a blistering slap shot from the right faceoff circle that banked in off the right post.

Barabanov tied it one minute into the third, tipping Matt Benning's shot from the right point past Jones from the high slot.

The Sharks opened the scoring at 4:11 of the first as Couture tipped Nick Cicek's shot from the left point past Jones.

The Kraken tied it on Burakovsky's power-play goal at 9:44. The Sharks regained the lead on Meier's man-advantage tally at 18:53.
