Sharks 6, Canucks 2: Matt Nieto scored two goals and set up another as visiting San Jose posted its second straight win following a three-game slide.
Logan Couture, defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic and rookies Chris Tierney and Melker Karlsson also tallied for the Sharks, who evened the five-game season series at two victories apiece. Antti Niemi made 26 saves, Patrick Marleau set up a pair of goals and Joe Thornton also notched two assists to raise his career total to 895 and pass Phil Housley for 19th place on the all-time list.
Captain Henrik Sedin extended his point streak to eight games with his third two-goal performance of the campaign while Daniel Sedin recorded two assists for the Canucks. Jacob Markstrom allowed three goals on four shots in his season debut before being replaced by Eddie Lack, who turned aside 23 shots.
Tierney got San Jose on the board 3:03 into the contest, beating Markstrom high to the glove side from the left faceoff circle after a turnover for his second career goal. Karlsson slid a backhander inside the left post while laying on his chest in front with his back to the net at 7:18 and Couture buried the rebound of Nieto's shot from the right circle 27 seconds later for a 3-0 lead.
Henrik Sedin whipped a shot from the right faceoff dot past Niemi during a power play 1:01 into the middle session before converting a pass from twin brother Daniel at 9:12, cutting the deficit to 3-2. Nieto gave the Sharks breathing room less than three minutes later with a wrist shot from the slot after receiving a pass from Marleau, who forced Daniel Sedin to cough up the puck in the right circle, before he and Vlasic sealed the win with empty-net goals.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Henrik Sedin's first goal was his 900th career point, making him the 101st player in NHL history to reach the plateau. ... Tierney also scored his first NHL goal at Rogers Arena on Feb. 5. ... San Jose D Brent Burns notched an assist for his 48th point, matching his career high set last season.
