Ducks 5, Oilers 2: Defenseman Ben Lovejoy recorded his first career two-goal performance and Kyle Palmieri notched a tally and an assist as Anaheim remained unbeaten in regulation at home (16-0-2).
Tim Jackman and Andrew Cogliano also scored for the Ducks, who improved to 2-0-0 on their four-game homestand. Jonas Hiller turned aside 16 shots as Anaheim posted its 12th win in 13 overall contests.
Boyd Gordon and Nail Yakupov tallied for the Oilers, whose winless streak reached four games (0-2-2). Ilya Bryzgalov finished with 32 saves against his former team.
Edmonton got off to a fast start as Gordon beat Hiller with a backhander while laying in the ice after being tripped just 35 seconds into the game. The lead lasted only 11 seconds, however, as Palmieri pounced on an ill-advised pass attempt by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and slipped a backhand shot past Bryzgalov.
Yakupov poked in a loose puck during a scramble in front midway through the first to regain the lead for the Oilers, but Lovejoy buried a pair of one-timers in the final 2:48 of the period to put Anaheim ahead for good. Jackman converted a pass from behind the net by Nick Bonino with 44 seconds left in the middle period and Cogliano beat Bryzgalov to the stick side during a breakaway at 11:16 of the third to cap the scoring.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Yakupov has scored in consecutive games after being a healthy scratch on Tuesday. The 20-year-old Russian recorded only two goals over his previous 18 contests. ... Edmonton C Jordan Eberle missed the game with a knee injury, which he suffered Thursday at San Jose. ... Anaheim has won five
straight meetings with Edmonton and 16 of the last 18.
