Oilers 3, Predators 0: Ilya Bryzgalov made 33 saves for his 31st career shutout in his first start with visiting Edmonton.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Taylor Hall scored 51 seconds apart in the second period for the Oilers, who won for the fourth time in five games. Jordan Eberle added an empty-net tally as he and Hall finished with a goal and an assist apiece.
Bryzgalov turned aside 13 shots in the first period before stopping 10 in each of the final two sessions. He has allowed one goal on his first 46 shots faced with Edmonton.
Nugent-Hopkins tipped a shot by defenseman Jeff Petry past Marek Mazanec (25 saves) 5:32 into the second period. Sam Gagner fed Hall during a 2-on-1 rush on the next shift, and Hall put the puck on his backhand before sliding it under Mazanec.
Bryzgalov preserved the shutout with a nice save through traffic late in the third period on Paul Gaustad, who jumped off the bench as an extra attacker and had a great opportunity from the high slot. Eberle took a pass from Hall and deposited it in the empty net with just under a minute remaining to seal the contest.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Nashville captain Shea Weber left the game late in the second period after a shot by Edmonton F David Perron deflected up and hit him in the face. … Hall has collected seven points during his five-game streak. … The Predators fell to 0-11-0 when trailing after two periods and were blanked for the sixth time this season.
