Top draft pick Cam Newton put up big passing numbers again but also threw three interceptions, and Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers defeated the Carolina Panthers 30-23 on Sunday.

Newton threw for 422 yards in Week 1 — the most ever by an NFL player making his debut. On Sunday, Newton put up 432 yards and threw a 3-yard touchdown to Brandon LaFell. He also led the Panthers with 53 rushing yards and a touchdown, but the Packers intercepted him three times, and Rodgers was more effective.

Rodgers broke the 300-yard mark and threw long touchdown passes to Greg Jennings and Jordy Nelson. Nelson's 84-yard touchdown sealed it, as he took a slant from Rodgers and cut it back to the outside, racing down the sideline to give the Packers a two-touchdown lead.

Rodgers has won eight straight starts, highlighted by the Packers' run to the Super Bowl title last season.

Packers receiver Donald Driver had one catch for 10 yards, passing Hall of Famer James Lofton for the most receiving yards in franchise history with 9,666.
