TCU 71, Prairie View A&M 54: Trey Zeigler led a balanced attack with 14 points as the host Horned Frogs cruised past the Panthers.

Zeigler was one of four players to reach double digits for TCU (1-0), which limited Prairie View A&M to 32.8 percent from the field and 6-of-18 from 3-point range. Karviar Shepherd had 13 points and 10 rebounds while Kyan Anderson added 12 points and Kenrich Williams 11.

Tre Hagood and Karim York poured in 13 points apiece for the Panthers (0-1), who never led. Montrael Scott added 11 points in defeat.

The Panthers struggled from the outset, missing their first seven field goals while turning the ball over twice to find themselves down 9-1 less than six minutes into the game. Back-to-back York 3-pointers made it a five-point game with 3:38 left in the half, but Zeigler replied with a layup off a Christian Gore steal to send the Horned Frogs into the break with a 30-23 advantage.

Jacoby Green's 3-pointer 5:11 into the second half trimmed the deficit to four, but that was as close as Prairie View A&M would get. Williams answered with a three-point play, Chris Washburn and Anderson added layups and TCU held the Panthers without a point for nearly five minutes leading into the midway point of the half to put the game away.
