Anthony Davis and Doron Lamb both scored 14 points to spark No. 2 Kentucky to a 68-53 win at Auburn on Thursday, extending the Wildcats' winning streak to eight games.
The game was tied 47-47 with 10:22 left, but Auburn didn’t score for nearly five minutes. Consecutive 3-pointers from Lamb and Darius Miller in the final six minutes keyed a 13-2 run and put Kentucky over the hump.
Kentucky (16-1, 2-0 SEC) also had Marquis Teague with 12 points and Terrence Jones with 10 points and five rebounds. Davis had a team-high six rebounds.
Auburn (10-6, 0-2) got 14 points and eight rebounds from Rob Cubb and 12 points from Chris Denson. The Tigers have lost three in a row.
Auburn looked like a different team than the one that scored only 35 points against Vanderbilt in losing its SEC opener. But that didn’t prevent the Tigers from losing to Kentucky for the 13th straight time, a setback that broke Auburn’s 10-game homecourt winning streak.
