Bobby Portis had 26 points and 12 rebounds, Bradley Beal scored 22 points and the host Washington Wizards defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 135-121 on Sunday night.
Reserve Jabari Parker added 22 points for Washington, which had lost five of six.
Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 28 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, his first sub-30 point effort in four games.
Derrick Rose scored 18 points off the bench for the Timberwolves, who have lost four of five. Taj Gibson and Andrew Wiggins had 14 points each.
Minnesota scored 84 points in the paint, but converted just 4 of 27 3-point attempts. The Timberwolves shot 52.5 percent overall.
Washington shot 50 percent from the field and 11 of 33 from 3-point range.
Beal's 3-pointer gave the Wizards a 77-71 lead midway through the third quarter and Parker's dunk followed by his 3-pointer made it 93-82 late in the third. Washington led 97-87 to start the fourth.
A 6-0 run pulled Minnesota within 100-95, but Thomas Bryant's three-point play made it 107-100 with 8:21 remaining and Parker's 3-point play pushed the lead to 10.
Minnesota got to within 110-105 on Towns' dunk before Sam Dekker's six straight points started a 10-0 run and the Wizards led by as many as 16 in the final minutes.
Washington had a 21-7 edge in fast-break points.
Beal had 12 points in the first quarter and the Wizards led 40-36 after 12 minutes despite Minnesota shooting 63 percent (17-for-27).
The Timberwolves led by six late in the second quarter before settling for a 64-62 halftime advantage.
Towns scored 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting with six rebounds in the half. Beal had 17 on 6-of-12 shooting.
Minnesota shot 57.7 percent, compared to 42.9 percent for Washington, but five Timberwolves' turnovers led to 11 Wizards points.
Timberwolves forward Luol Deng (sore left Achilles) missed his second straight game.
