Nuggets 101, Lakers 94 (OT): Ty Lawson had 18 points and a season-high 16 assists as visiting Denver beat Los Angeles for its fourth consecutive victory.
Wilson Chandler added 19 points and eight rebounds and Timofey Mozgov finished with 13 points and 13 boards for the Nuggets. Arron Afflalo added 15 points and Danilo Gallinari led the reserves with 10 points and seven rebounds for Denver, which shot 37.8 percent from the floor.
Kobe Bryant scored 27 points to lead the Lakers, but shot 10-for-24 and missed a potential game-winning shot at the end of regulation. Jeremy Lin contributed 17 points, Jordan Hill had 11 points and 14 rebounds and Wesley Johnson had 12 rebounds for Los Angeles, which played without starting forward Carlos Boozer (shoulder).
With the score tied at 90 and just under two minutes left in overtime, Gallinari made his first free throw but missed the second and Mozgov collected the rebound before the ball eventually made its way back to Gallinari, who sank a 3-pointer for a four-point lead with 1:28 left. Lawson kept the advantage at four with a jumper with one minute on the clock and Afflalo did the same with two free throws with 18 seconds remaining to seal the win.
Gallinari had a chance to give the Nuggets a one-point lead with 16 seconds left in regulation but missed his second free throw attempt. Bryant then missed his fifth straight shot, a turnaround jumper from the baseline in the final second, and the game ventured into overtime.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Nuggets backup C JaVale McGee suffered a lower left leg strain in the first half and did not return. … With McGee unavailable and Mozgov dealing with foul trouble, J.J. Hickson made his first appearance in the last four games and contributed six points and eight rebounds in 12 minutes. ... Lawson has had 14 or more assists eight times in his career, three times against the Lakers.
