Spurs 102, Lakers 91: Tony Parker scored 24 of his 28 points in the second half as host San Antonio took a 2-0 series lead over Los Angeles.
Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard added 16 points apiece for the Spurs, who were in control for much of the second half before finally breaking away midway through the fourth quarter. The series shifts to Los Angeles on Friday for Game 3 of the best-of-seven Western Conference series.
Dwight Howard battled foul trouble throughout en route to 16 points and nine rebounds and Steve Blake scored 16 before leaving with an injury for the Lakers, who led briefly in the second quarter but never got closer than six points after halftime.
Manu Ginobili scored 13 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in a 13-4 run that sent San Antonio into the half with a 56-48 lead. The Lakers cut a 12-point deficit in half in the third before the Spurs extended it to 78-68 entering the fourth.
With San Antonio ahead by 10, Duncan hit back-to-back baskets before Matt Bonner drilled a 3-pointer to cap a 7-0 spurt and make it 91-74 with 6:09 left. The Lakers used an 8-0 spurt to get the deficit to single digits but seven straight points from Parker pushed the lead to 16 with 1:14 to go.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Lakers PG Steve Nash aggravated a hamstring injury and Blake suffered a hamstring strain, further depleting a backcourt that was already without reserve G Jodie Meeks (ankle). Nash will receive another epidural shot and Blake will undergo an ultrasound Thursday while Meeks is scheduled for an MRI exam on Friday. ... Parker had his highest-scoring output since Feb. 21 - eight days before injuring his ankle. ... Mike D'Antoni became the first Lakers coach to lose his first two playoff games.
