Rockets 140, Warriors 109: Jeremy Lin led the way with 28 points and nine assists as Houston tied an NBA record by hitting 23 3-pointers in routing visiting Golden State.
James Harden added 18 points and Chandler Parson had 16 as eight players reached double figures for the Rockets. Houston finished 23 of 40 from beyond the arc, matching the league record set by the Orlando Magic for most made 3-pointers in a game.
Jarrett Jack scored 20 points and David Lee added 18 for the Warriors, who had their four-game winning streak come to an end. Golden State took to fouling in the final minute so that the Rockets could not get off their record-breaking 3-pointer.
Houston did manage to set one record on Tuesday, with their 140 points topping the Toyota Center’s previous record of 134, set by the visiting San Antonio Spurs earlier this season. The Rockets shot 50.5 percent from the field overall and six different players made at least two 3-pointers.
Houston went 14-for-18 from 3-point range in the first half to shoot out to a 77-62 lead at the break. The Warriors kept pace in the first quarter but began to fall off when Toney Douglas, Harden and Patrick Patterson each hit a 3-pointer during a 9-0 run in the second quarter.
Lin scored seven points and went back-to-back from beyond the arc with Parsons during a 10-0 burst early in the third that spread it out to 87-64.
Golden State pulled to within 115-97 with 7:22 left but Lin scored five straight points to spark a 9-0 run before getting the rest of the night off. Donatas Motiejunas hit the final 3-pointer of the night for Houston with 3:41 to play.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Warriors rookie F Draymond Green and Rockets F Marcus Morris were both ejected after exchanging shoves following Green’s flagrant foul of Patrick Beverley. … Beverley, who was booed by the home crowd for passing up a 3-pointer in favor of a dunk late in the game, was assessed a technical for taunting after the dunk. … Golden State was playing the opener of a four-games-in-five-days set.
