Derrick Rose scored 39 points and Taj Gibson scored seven of his 11 points in a dominant fourth quarter as the Chicago Bulls battled back to down the Detroit Pistons 101-91 on Saturday.
Joakim Noah added 15 points and 17 rebounds and James Johnson scored six of his eight points in the fourth for the Bulls, who outscored the Pistons 34-9 in the final frame.
Detroit surged ahead in the second quarter, outscoring Chicago 39-23 in the frame to take a 63-44 lead into the break. The Pistons began the second with a 20-3 spurt, getting 11 points from Ben Gordon during that span. He finished with 19 in the quarter.
The Bulls trailed 82-67 to start the fourth but stormed all the way back, opening the frame with a 19-4 run and pulling even at 86 on Johnson’s 3-pointer with 5:02 left. Gibson tied it again at 88 with 3:54 on the clock and Chicago finally pulled ahead on Noah’s tip-in just over a minute later.
Rose scored six points over the final 2:16 to lock it up.
