Antawn Jamison had 28 points and 13 rebounds, J.J. Hickson had 24 points, 15 rebounds and a career high five blocks and the Cleveland Cavaliers spoiled the new-look New York Knicks’ first road game with a 115-109 victory Friday.
Carmelo Anthony had 27 points and eight rebounds, but didn’t score his first basket in the fourth quarter until the final minute and fouled out moments later. Amar’e Stoudemire had 31 points and 11 rebounds, but it was Chauncey Billups who kept the Knicks close with 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Billups was scoreless in the first half, but finished with 26 points and eight assists. Still, it wasn’t enough to lead the Knicks to victory in their first road game following the roster overhaul that landed them Anthony and Billups.
Ramon Sessions had 22 points and eight rebounds for the Cavs. New point guard Baron Davis, acquired in a deadline deal, won’t join the team until Saturday.
