Red Sox 9, Astros 4: Dustin Pedroia scored a run and drove in two others during a seven-run rally in the sixth inning as Boston came from behind to top visiting Houston.
Pedroia finished with three hits while David Ortiz, Mike Napoli, Will Middlebrooks, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Christian Vazquez each added an RBI during the decisive frame as the Red Sox picked up their fourth straight win. Allen Webster (3-1) benefited from all the support and ended up with the win after allowing four runs - three earned - on five hits and three walks in six innings.
Scott Feldman (6-9) coasted through the first five innings before falling apart and ended up being charged with seven runs on nine hits and two walks in 5 1/3 frames. Matt Dominguez homered and Robbie Grossman singled in a run as the Astros fell for the fourth time in five games.
Napoli’s error in the second inning allowed a run to cross and Grossman delivered an RBI single in the third before Dominguez’s blast into the light tower in left-center field an inning later gave Houston a 4-0 lead. Boston finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, when Pedroia came home on a double-play grounder, before the Red Sox broke through in the sixth.
Ortiz delivered the third straight hit to start the inning - an RBI single - and Napoli plated a run to make it 4-3 before Middlebrooks’ RBI base hit tied the game and chased Feldman. Darin Downs came on with the bases loaded and walked Bradley to force in the go-ahead run before Vazquez chipped in a sacrifice fly, and Pedroia greeted right-hander Mike Foltynewicz with a ground-rule double down the right-field line to plate two more and cap the uprising.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The game was delayed several minutes at the start as the Red Sox induced Roger Clemens, Pedro Martinez, Nomar Garciaparra and longtime radio voice Joe Castiglione into the team's Hall of Fame. … The Astros fell to 0-8 all-time at Fenway Park. … Boston recalled RHP Alex Wilson and optioned RHP Anthony Ranaudo to Triple-A Pawtucket.
