Rays 10, Marlins 6: Kelly Johnson recorded four hits, including a pair of three-run homers, as Tampa Bay took a big early lead and held off a rally by visiting Miami.

Johnson, who matched a career high with six RBIs, delivered his second blast in the eighth inning with one out to push the lead to 10-6. Relievers Josh Lueke, Jake McGee (2-2), Joel Peralta and Fernando Rodney held the Marlins without a run over the final four innings on three hits.

Greg Dobbs collected two hits and two RBIs, Jordan Brown knocked in a pair and Chris Coghlan added two hits and an RBI for the Marlins, who have lost six straight. Miami starter Jose Fernandez (2-3), who pitched at Alonso High in Tampa two years ago, allowed seven runs (four earned) and five hits in a season-low 3 1/3 innings.

An error helped keep the inning alive before Johnson belted a Fernandez slider into the right-field seats to cap a six-run second inning as the Rays built a 6-0 lead. Yunel Escobar contributed an RBI single and Jose Molina had a sacrifice fly during the big rally.

Justin Ruggiano’s solo home run just inside the left-field foul pole and an RBI single by Coghlan helped bring the Marlins within 6-3 in the fourth. Evan Longoria’s sacrifice fly pushed the lead to four before Dobbs singled home a pair and Brown’s run-scoring infield hit off reliever Lueke’s leg pulled Miami within 7-6 in the fifth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tampa Bay has won 10 of the last 11 meetings with Miami, outscoring the Marlins 69-27 in that span.
