Pirates 10, Dodgers 6: Garrett Jones hit a pair of three-run homers and Pedro Alvarez also went deep among his three hits as Pittsburgh avoided a four-game sweep against visiting Los Angeles.
The Dodgers were trying to wrap up their first four-game sweep in Pittsburgh since the Brooklyn Dodgers did it in 1949, but Jones' career-high six RBIs helped the Pirates ended a nine-game losing streak against Los Angeles that dated to last season.
Dodgers star Matt Kemp and manager Don Mattingly were ejected in the second inning, and home plate umpire Angel Campos also tossed Los Angeles starter Joe Blanton as he was leaving the field after being pulled in the fifth inning. All three were upset with Campos' strike zone.
Jones blasted a 3-2 changeup from Blanton (8-11) to right to give Pittsburgh a 3-0 lead in the first and put the Pirates back in front by launching an 0-2 fastball into the seats in right-center for a 7-4 advantage in the fifth.
Pirates ace A.J. Burnett (15-4) wasn't at his sharpest, allowing six runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings, but he benefited from Pittsburgh's biggest offensive output of the series.
Hanley Ramirez hit his 150th career home run - a two-run shot in the fourth - and James Loney added a solo homer for the Dodgers, who remain a half-game ahead of San Francisco for the National League West lead.
Blanton allowed eight runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings to remain winless in three starts since the Dodgers acquired him from Philadelphia.
Clint Barmes had two hits and three RBIs for the Pirates.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Pirates have allowed five or more runs in 10 consecutive home games after doing so only seven times in their first 50 home contests. ... Mattingly has been ejected six times this season. … Los Angeles dropped to 12-2 this season when playing in the Eastern time zone. ... The Dodgers sent RHP Ryan O'Sullivan to Philadelphia as the player to be named later in the deal that brought Blanton to Los Angeles.
