Bruins 4, Maple Leafs 1: Defenseman Dougie Hamilton scored a goal and assisted on two others as visiting Boston routed Toronto.

Gregory Campbell netted a short-handed tally while Carl Soderberg and David Krejci added a goal apiece for the Bruins in their first game without injured captain Zdeno Chara (knee). Patrice Bergeron collected a pair of assists and Tuukka Rask turned aside 32 shots to improve to 10-2-0 lifetime against the Maple Leafs.

Toronto's Richard Panik scored his first goal of the season with 5 1/2 minutes remaining to end Rask's shutout bid. Jonathan Bernier permitted four goals on 25 shots before being replaced early in the third period by James Reimer, who stopped all eight shots he faced.

Boston jumped on top during a power play 3:27 into the contest, when Hamilton misfired a shot that Bergeron poked toward the net, allowing Soderberg to sweep in the rebound. Krejci doubled the lead with 4:02 left in the second, busting down the left wing and cutting to the net before knocking home the rebound of his stuff attempt.

The Bruins broke it open by scoring twice in a span of 1:37 early in the third. Campbell buried a shot in front after a crossing pass by Daniel Paille at 2:32 and Hamilton ended Bernier's night, splitting a pair of defenders before beating the netminder high to the glove side.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The pregame ceremony, coordinated between Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal, featured a moving tribute to the two fallen officers who lost their lives this past week in separate incidents in Ottawa and suburban Montreal. After a moment of silence, both the U.S. and Canadian national anthems were played, with vocalist Lyndon Slewidge briefly singing the beginning of "O Canada" before allowing the fans at all three venues to take over. ... Bergeron recorded his 500th career point with an assist on Soderberg's opening goal. ... Toronto failed on three power-play chances to dip to 0-for-19 in its last five games.
