Connor Vanover scored a game-high 23 points to lead eight Arkansas players in double figures as the Razorbacks rolled past Mississippi Valley State 142-62 on Wednesday night in Fayetteville, Ark.

The game was the season opener for both teams.

A transfer from Cal and at 7-foot-3 the tallest player in program history, Vanover shot 8-for-10 from the field and 4-for-5 from 3-point range off the bench for the Hogs. He also had eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

Moses Moody contributed 18 points; Vance Jackson, Khalen Robinson and Desi Sills scored 15 each; Jalen Tate had 12 and Justin Smith and JD Notae added 13 each for the Razorbacks, who shot 55.8 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range in the runaway.

Jackson pushed his career total to 1,005 points. He came from New Mexico after starting his collegiate career at UConn.

Jaylin Williams nearly made it nine Arkansas players in double digits but settled for nine points. He led the Hogs in rebounding with 10 as Arkansas enjoyed a 58-33 advantage on the boards.

Terry Collins led the Delta Devils with 15 points and Kam'Ron Cunningham added 13. The visitors shot only 31.9 percent from the field but sank 13 3-pointers in 39 attempts.

The Delta Devils were charged with 21 turnovers to just seven for Arkansas.

The Razorbacks took command in the first half, going on a 28-0 run that gave them a 41-8 cushion at the 7:22 mark of the period.

The Delta Devils missed 16 shots during a scoring drought that lasted for 7:25. They recovered to shoot 7-for-17 the rest of the period but still went to the locker room down 61-30.

Arkansas had four players in double figures in the first half after shooting 56.4 percent overall and 63.2 percent from 3-point range.

The onslaught continued in the second half. The 80-point final margin matched the biggest lead of the game.
